Day 9

What a day!  We drove 300 miles today....none on Route 66. New mexico is the Land of Enchantment and so beautiful.   Now we are in Arizona and it is even more beautiful. First thing this morning we saw Window Rock in the Navajo Nation. The view was awesome, and in the same area is a monument dedicated to the code talkers from World War 2.  Very moving.  There were 400 Navajo Marines who had that job.  We then made our way to Canyon De Chelly.  Next the Painted Desert, and lastly the Petrified Forest.  There is no way you can explain the awe and beauty so you each have to see this area on your own.  No one but God could have created this world.  The Navajo are so welcoming, and the locals are very helpful.  Waiting for day 10.

  1. If you come across Indian women selling jewelry,at a rest park or just on the side of the road, that is the time to buy. Their jewelry will also be for sale in the next large town, with a great increase in price. I still have and wear jewelry that I bought on our trip west in 2000.
